DEVELOP YOUR CREATIVE VOICE AS A MUSIC MAKER

Get the mentorship and personalized feedback you need to excel. In-Studio and Virtual session available.

Brought to you by Producer + Award Winning Composer Daniel Hoshor.

Hi there, I’m Dan.

I founded MUSIC MAKER in 2024.

A little bit about me:

I’m a life long learner. I enjoy mentoring artists to achieve their creative goals. My approach blends technique, structure and self-directed exploration.

I studied at SCAD, graduating with a bachelor degree in Sound Design, 2017. There I studied music production, sound design and composition for film and animation.

My favorite genres (right now) are UK EDM (Dubstep, Future Garage, DnB, Jungle). I also enjoy progressive house and epic orchestral.

While production, songwriting and composition are the primary focus of our lessons, we also explore the application of multimedia: visual design, illustration, cinematography, animation, performing arts as storytelling tools—and how they might be used to realize your projects.

Additionally, we how to achieve your goals via design thinking, problem solving, planning, and project management.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are Music Maker Lessons and Workshops held?

Music Maker’s Lessons, Private Workshops and Small Group Workshops are held at the residence of the teacher in Cary, NC, with a fully-furnished home Music-Production studio. Large Group Workshops are hosted at our local partners, each furnished with a full Music Production Studio.

How are Piano Lessons different with Music Maker?

Music Maker’s Piano lessons focus on Music Theory, Improvisation and Technique for the purpose of developing original music and style. Students are often guided to learn and perform songs from other artists and composers in order to develop performance technique and inspiration. Our lessons emphasize the role of active imagination and design thinking to produce original works.

Individuals often find the opportunity to explore their own creative ideas refreshing, compared to traditional, classically oriented Piano lessons.

What prior experience do students need?

Prior experience is highly beneficial, but not required. The most important qualities are interest, attentiveness and the will to learn. Topics of sessions often include Music Theory, Improvisation, and Recording, which are enhanced by the student’s performance ability.

Are instruments and equipment provided?

Lessons: All equipment required for Piano and Music Production lessons are provided. The studio is furnished with a guitar amplifier. Students that play an instrument other than piano must supply their own instrument. Students are also encouraged to bring their own equipment if it’s portable, including over-ear monitors (studio headphones), laptops, tablets and MIDI controllers.

Workshops: All equipment required is provided.

Do you provide feedback and progress reports?

You will receive Music Maker’s Practice Tracker, which also functions as a Monthly Progress Report. Each session of practice counts towards a student’s goal, whether it’s learning a song, learning a new technique, mastering a new genre, or producing an original body of work. I utilize Gamification in all of my lessons and materials as a means to encourage consistent, enthusiastic practice.

Do you offer group lessons?

Students may choose to partner with a fellow student (friend, collaborator or partner) for weekly Group Lessons. Group Lessons facilitate up to 3 students, at a more affordable rate of $45/Hour per student. Group Lessons are hosted at the Music Maker residential studio in Cary, NC.

Are there performance opportunities for students?

Music Maker’s Performance Opportunities are in the planning phase.

What age groups can register?

Music Maker serves primarily Teens and Adults, due to greater experience and interest in music.  Youth with a strong interest in music are fully encouraged to participate in our Lessons and Workshops, with the expectation to be attentive and not disrupt their fellow participants. Considerations are made to coordinate group workshops via age.

Are trial lessons available?

We encourage new Students to Enroll in a Private Workshop for 3-Hours of personalized instruction for $160 USD. This provides the foundation, live-demonstration and strategy for learning Music Production. Students may also elect to enroll for a single Lesson for the standard pricing of $60/Hour.
